Club President Report

 Brian Mac

The 2017 year can be seen as successful for the club on and off the field in both the Seniors and Juniors.
The year commenced with another wonderful season launch attended by 240 guests with our distinguished Patron Peter(Fab)Fenton as MC and Stirling Mortlock as guest speaker.
The season got underway with a new coaching group appointed to look after the Premier 1 and Premier 2 teams under the guidance John Stokie. John and his group have managed to encourage a number previous young Juniors from the past to return to the club auguring well for the future.
Three of senior teams narrowly missed out on the finals while the Under 19’s finished Fourth. The Junior teams were very successful with most teams finishing in the finals culminating in a Grand Final win for the Under 12’s. Fund raising and Sponsorship to support the players in their endeavors’ was again a large part of the club’s success. A sincere thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors and to all of those involved in the many functions held during the year.
The club is indebted to all the many volunteers who worked the licensed club the canteens and the sidelines. The game cannot operate without the contribution of the people who give their time thanklessly every week.
I would personally like to thank my committee for their hard work and dedication to Woy Woy Lions.

Club Vice President - Junior Rugby

It is with immense pleasure that I submit my first report as President of Woy Woy Junior Rugby Club.
As I wander around the grounds on a Saturday morning I feel an enthusiastic sense of pride in the culture and values that we have developed as a club. We value and celebrate the talents, the efforts and difference of not only our players but also the families associated with them.
2017 saw almost 180 junior players take the field across all age groups from 5-year old’s through to 17-year old’s. This included 2 under 7’s team’s, 2 under 8’s teams and teams in under 9’s, 10’s, 11’s, 12’s, 14’s, 15’s and 17’s. We should all be very proud of this achievement.
We are recognised as one of the top 3 strongest Junior clubs on the Central Coast for registrations and teams participating.  ‘Great to be top 3’ I hear you say, but what makes Woy Woy Junior Rugby number one in my eyes and stands us apart from the other clubs is our fun family friendly culture. We may not win every game but we walk off the field with our heads held high knowing we have played our best and above all we have played in the true spirit of Rugby.
